A Little About Me
It all began with a passion and a curious heart. Ever since I was a kid I was always fascinated with the world. My entire life everything has always been about the in-between small moments. How much more I appreciated and loved to laugh with my friends, watch the sky dance in colors as the day came to an end, or how much more I generally appreciated my time with people over anything else.
I remember getting a GoPro at the end of middle school for the first time and my friends and I would make the most ridiculous videos with it. I remember the very first video I ever recorded on it was my friend throwing ninjas stars into a fence! That is some golden content if I say so myself.
Over the years after that, I learned that I have such a love for cameras and how beautiful it is to be able to capture those in-between small moments in life. Those random spontaneous moments when you all pile in a car and RACE the sun so we can catch those colors. To be able to capture that moment in time, to reflect and appreciate it was something that was completely new to me.
My parents gave me my first true camera in my very last semester of high school. A good ol’ Canon Rebel T6. A DSLR starter camera that brought a crazy sense of passion for the world of photography. Every day. I was shooting and learning and shooting and learning and fixing my mistakes. I was completely obsessed with the images I was creating and how often the most beautiful ones came from the small moments in life.
Flash forward two years and I am on my 3rd camera I am living in Upstate New York in a gap year program in the Adirondack mountains. It is so repetitive but I could not escape from that love of small moments. In the midst of that year in the Adirondacks, I tried so many new things and I experienced the world in a way that was so foreign to me. To be able to see something 15 miles into the backcountry that only my eyes will ever see at that exact moment in time but to be able to capture that.
Moving to Boone has only inspired me even more than before in my love for photography and videography. I love the constant changing seasons and how many people come in and out of Boone, only to experience what this place has to offer them and their families. Yet, they leave a sense of security and joy for this town. It is a beautiful thing to see the locals, the students, and the ones who vacation all come together to make Boone truly what it is. And that is its only little culture of people. To be able to capture and help those around me remember why this place is so special has had a dear place in my heart since moving here.
I love photography but I love people even more. The reason I love this career so much is that I get to share everything I do with the people around me. My absolute favorite moments in life are when I am able to help others remember or experience their life in a nostalgic way they never have before. That is why I love to capture those small in-between moments for them.
